At the bottom of Mariana Trench

In March 2012 the deep descent bathyscaf of the Russian production of "Mir-2" as a members of a research group we had been able to dive to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, the deepest part of the world's oceans (about 11km), which could easily "swallow" Mount Everest.

At the bottom of Mariana Trench

This deep was visited by a man only once, in 1960. Underwater bathyscaf «Trieste» went down about 5 hours to the lowest point of the ocean. Its passengers Jacques Piccard, Swiss scientist, and Don Walsh, Lieutenant U.S. Navy, was lucky to hold on "bottom of the world" in the cold and darkness for about 20 minutes.

Today, on the 1st of April 2012, you have the unique opportunity to be there, where the foot of man has never stepped. Despite the low quality of the image in the darkness you can see the unusual inhabitants of the underwater world.

- I am not sure if you dived the same time with Cameron, famous movie director (Terminator, Titanic, Avatar), whose dive made a splash in international media.
- the 4 rating is not because the picture quality is not great (on the contrary), but "panorama", as the name suggests, gives the best visual effects from high above (as witnessed by your entire collection of "chefs d'oeuvre".
Thanks a lot !

Thanks, Marian. We appreciate your opinion. This pano is dedicated to the holiday named in Russia The Fools' Day which is celebrated on the 1 of April (unofficial holiday). It is a kind of 1-st April's joke.

Nice pictures, including the April fool shot.
However, it's a pity you don't seem to know much about Jacques Picard who was NOT a Swedish, but a SWISS scientist (as well as his whole explorator family)
